FNHPP transferred 6 million rubles to the Chukotka District Hospital for the purchase of new medical equipment

The floating nuclear thermal power plant (FNHPP), as part of the Program for Financing Charitable Initiatives of Rosenergoatom (the Electric Power Division of the Rosatom State Corporation), allocated 6 million rubles to the district hospital of Pevek (Chukotka Autonomous District) for the purchase of modern medical equipment.

It is planned to purchase a mobile system for cardiac ultrasound imaging, a monitoring system for indicators during cardiac stress testing, and many other things for this amount.

The new equipment, which will be delivered to the medical institution as early as 2023, will be available not only to the employees of the FNHPP itself, but also to all residents of the city of Pevek, including those who undergo regular examinations of the cardiovascular system. Doctors will be able to exam about 100 patients per month.

“Thanks to the timely assistance of nuclear scientists, it finally became possible to purchase the missing equipment for our primary vascular department. Affordable high-tech medicine is an important step towards the prosperity and sustainable development of Pevek. For a city beyond the Arctic Circle, where the distance to the regional center is measured in hundreds of kilometers, the possibility of prompt medical care for citizens is of particular importance,” said Nikolay Nikodiuk, head physician of the Chaunsky district hospital.

He also noted that today, more than ever, the most important priority is improving the quality of life of people, including in the healthcare sector, as well as creating a comfortable environment in the cities where nuclear facilities are located and improving the socio-economic situation of the regions as a whole.

It should be noted that in total, since the FNHPP was put into commercial operation in 2020, nuclear scientists have provided assistance to the Chukotka Regional Hospital in the amount of more than 25 million rubles for the purchase of not only medical equipment, but also medicines, as well as means of fighting COVID-19.
