Rosenergoatom: Russian nuclear power plants are ready for reliable operation in the autumn-winter period

Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom, the Electric Power Division of the State Corporation Rosatom) continue to provide the stable energy security of the country and are ready for operation in the autumn-winter period of 2022-2023. The relevant readiness certificate was issued to the operating organization by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, in October this year all Russian NPPs have passed annual special inspections, according to the results of which they were recognized as ready to reliably carry electrical and thermal loads in the autumn-winter period. Readiness certificates for each of them were signed by the General Director of Rosenergoatom Andrey Petrov.

According to Ramil Galiev, director of the Department for Safety Control and Production of the company, the organization of the work of Russian nuclear power plants is at a high level today, namely, the maintenance of equipment, the observance of safety and labor protection by personnel, their attitude to work.

“This year, as in previous years, all the necessary activities at nuclear power plants, including the floating nuclear thermal power plant in Chukotka, were completed in full and on time. Huge preparatory work has been performed, including scheduled repairs of equipment, buildings, structures, technical inspections and much more. As a result, thanks to the close-knit work of the Rosenergoatom team, consisting of thousands of specialists - from personnel on patrol to managers - all nuclear power plants in the country are ready to ensure reliable and trouble-free passage of the winter maximum load period, as well as uninterrupted supply of power and heat to consumers in the autumn-winter period ", - said Ramil Sultanovich.

Since the beginning of this year, the volume of power generation by all nuclear power plants has been more than 193 billion kilowatt-hours, or 102.68% of the FAS Russia's balance target. Therefore, over 5 billion kWh have been generated since the beginning of the year in excess of the balance target (as of November 15, 2022). The operation of all Russian nuclear power plants during this period made it possible to prevent emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmospheric air in the amount of more than 97 million tons of CO2 equivalent.

The share of power generation by nuclear power plants in Russia is about 20%.

Operational information on the radiation situation next to Russian NPPs and other facilities of the nuclear industry is available on the website www.russianatom.ru.
