29.09.2022  COMMUNIKATIONS DEPARTAMENT OF ROSENERGOATOM

Rosenergoatom was awarded the Government Award for a great contribution to the development of the nuclear industry

Rosenergoatom (part of Rosatom State Corporation) was awarded a certificate of honor from the Government of the Russian Federation for its great contribution to the development of the nuclear industry. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

By the Day of the Nuclear Industry Worker, which is annually celebrated on September 28 by all Russian nuclear workers, Russian NPPs have generated almost 163 billion kWh of power since the beginning of this year, exceeding the target set by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia by 2.58%. The operation of all Russian NPPs during this period made it possible to prevent emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmospheric air in the amount of more than 80 million tons of CO2 equivalent.

In 2021, the total power generation by Russian nuclear power plants amounted to 222.437 billion kWh, which exceeded the record value set by all nuclear power plants in the USSR in 1988.

Let us recall that in 2022, the largest generating company in Russia, ranked 1st in total power generation and 2nd in the world in terms of installed nuclear power capacity, celebrates its 30th anniversary since its foundation in 1992. Thirty years ago, discrete Russian nuclear power plants merged into a single operating organization. Over the years of operation, they have generated about 4.6 trillion kWh, which in total exceeds the 4-year electricity consumption of the entire country.

Today the company is the only NPP operator in Russia and one of the largest players in the Russian electricity market. Rosenergoatom includes 11 operating NPPs, where 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW (including FNPPs) are in operation.

The share of nuclear generation in the country is about 20% of the total power generation.

Operational information on the radiation situation next to Russian NPPs and other facilities of the nuclear industry is available on the website www.russianatom.ru.
