The Leningrad NPP: equipment was brought to the construction site where it is planned to build two more new PWR-1200 units to clear the territory

On August 29, 2022, woodland clearance began at the construction site of two new PWR-1200 power units of the Leningrad NPP. Now the space is being cleared for the first building - a combined pumping station for fire-fighting water supply and automatic fire extinguishing.

A little later, logging operations will begin on a site of more than 68 hectares. By the end of 2023, it is planned to carry out the planning of the territory.

Specialists of TITAN-2 have already started cutting down the forest and organizing the relief. The next step will be the vertical planning of the territory, which will prepare the industrial site for excavation. The workers will lay temporary electricity and water supply networks and temporary access roads,” said Evgeny Milushkin, deputy director for capital construction of the Leningrad NPP-2.

“At the moment, two complexes of modern equipment are operating at the industrial site. The cut wood is transported to storage base No. 1 and delivered to the customer for sale,” said Konstantin Khudyakov, director of the program for the facilities of the Leningrad NPP of TITAN-2 JSC.

As part of the general contract for the construction of two more new PWR-1200 power units, Rosenergoatom and TITAN-2 JSC concluded an additional agreement for preparatory work.

The first two PWR-1200 units were launched in Sosnovy Bor in 2018 and 2021. The design service life is 60 years with the possibility of extension for another 20 years. Two more new PWR-1200 power units of the Leningrad NPP are planned to be commissioned in 2030 and 2032, respectively. They will become the replacement capacities of power unit No. 3 and No. 4 of RBMK-1000.

The daily output of each PWR-1200 power unit will be about 28 million kilowatt-hours of power, for the entire period of operation provided for by the project, each new power unit will produce more than 450 billion kilowatt-hours to the country's unified energy system.
