The Kursk NPP generated 1 trillion kWh of power

On July 25, 2022, they recorded a significant production indicator in the history of the operation of the Kursk NPP – since the launch the nuclear power plant has generated 1 trillion kilowatt-hours of power. This amount can provide power consumption for 22 million people in Russia for 45 years.

Besides, the generation of this volume of power made it possible to prevent the release of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere in the amount of about 500 million tons of CO2 equivalent.

“Our nuclear power plant has become the second after the Leningrad NPP in Russia, which has generated a trillion kilowatt-hours. I want to express my gratitude to all employees, veterans, contractors, business partners and everyone who helped us to work towards this achievement, which is important for Russia's energy security. Nuclear energy made it possible to create one of the economic centers of Russia in the Kursk region, - said Alexander Uvakin, director of the Kursk NPP. - I am sure that this is not the only trillion generated by the Kursk NPP. And the power units under construction will help us maintain a high production level, providing energy to the economy of our state.”

Today, power from the Kursk NPP is supplied to 19 Russian regions, making people's lives more comfortable. The nuclear power plant accounts for about 96 percent of the installed capacity of all power plants in the region. In other words, 9 out of 10 light bulbs in the Kursk region are powered by the Kursk nuclear power plant.
