Training for the staff of the Akkuyu NPP under construction (Republic of Turkey) has started at the Kalinin NPP

Training for the staff of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC has started at the site of Kalinin NPP. During the month, Turkish nuclear specialists will learn from the experience of Russian colleagues in the sphere of nuclear safety of nuclear power plants.

The training course includes theoretical and practical classes in such areas as cladding failure detection (CFD) of fuel assemblies, calculation of the neutron-physical characteristics of the core, engineering support of in-reactor control systems, use of operating experience, measurements, sampling, and others.

Special attention will be given to practical training, which will take place directly at the workplaces of specialists from the department of nuclear safety and reliability in the laboratory of spectrometry and CFD, as well as in the nuclear physics laboratory. At the end of the training course, students will have to take a field-specific exam and receive a corresponding certificate.

“Working at a nuclear power plant implies the highest level of responsibility and discipline, and the basis for the safe operation of a nuclear power plant is thorough and comprehensive personnel training. We are ready to share our knowledge and experience, professional competencies with foreign colleagues in order to replicate Russian production experience,” said Sergey Kiselev, deputy head of the nuclear safety and reliability department of the Kalinin NPP.

The internship of Turkish specialists at the Kalinin NPP was organized as part of the implementation of the project for the construction of the Akkuyu NPP in the Republic of Turkey with the active participation of the Electric Power Division, including JSC Rusatom Service and ANO DPO Technical Academy Of Rosatom, which are market and technological integrators of activities for training of all categories of personnel, including operational and maintenance, as well as personnel of nuclear infrastructure.

These services are provided taking into account the strategic goals of Rosatom State Corporation and Rosenergoatom for the development of international business, which involve the provision of support to foreign countries at all stages of the life cycle of the creation and development of nuclear energy – from the NPP construction to the training of highly professional personnel.
