The delegation of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, consisting of representatives of the People's Army of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic, as well as the management of the Rooppur NPP, which is being built under the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Bangladesh*, paid an official visit to the Rostov NPP (Volgodonsk, the Rostov Region).

In his welcoming speech to the guests director of the Rostov NPP Andrei Salnikov expressed confidence that thanks to such visits, friendship and cooperation between Russia and the People's Republic of Bangladesh will become stronger. Andrei Salnikov said, “I am sure that the nuclear power plant that will be built in your country, will operate for the benefit of all your people”.

During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the history of the foundation of the Rostov NPP, visited the main control room (MCR) and the turbine building of power unit No. 3 of the nuclear power plant. Volgodonsk atomic scientists answered all questions of their Bangladeshi colleagues.

Abu Noman Md Shibbir Ahmed, the head of the delegation, brigadier general thanked the Russian atomic scientists for hospitality on behalf of his team and all the people of the Republic, noting the importance of such events. “We are happy that we came to the Rostov NPP. We saw how well it was built and how it is safely operated, we learned a lot of useful things, and we hope to visit your nuclear power plant again,” he said.

* An intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the construction of the first Bangladesh Rooppur nuclear power plant was signed in November 2011. On December 25, 2015, a general contract was signed for the construction of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh. Power units No. 1, 2 are currently under construction. The general contractor is ASE JSC.
