Rosenergoatom: electrical energy generation by Russian NPPs rose by more than 22% in October 2020

Power generation by Russian NPPs (branches of JSC Rosenergoatom, part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom) made up 21,271 billion kWh in October 2020 (as opposed to 17,375 billion kWh in October 2019). That means the total power generation last month increased by more than 22% compared to the previous year.

The total electricity generation by all nuclear power plants in Russia since the beginning of 2020 has exceeded 177 billion kWh, or 102.6% of the FAS balance (as of November 3, 2020). The installed capacity utilization rate (ICUR) is about 79%.

Let's recall that last year, in 2019, Russian nuclear power plants set another record in terms of the amount of electricity generated, increasing the total output to 208.8 billion kWh (against 204.3 billion kWh a year earlier).

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia approved the plan for electricity generation by Russian NPPs for 2020 in the amount of 207,614 billion kWh.

The share of nuclear generation is about 19% of the total electricity generation in the country. Thus, every fifth light bulb in the Russian Federation burns from the energy generated by nuclear power plants.
