On September 4, 2019, the second inspection audit was completed at the Beloyarsk NPP to verify the adherence of its environment management system (EMS) to the national GOST R ISO 14001-2016 standard. The outcomes of the inspection have confirmed that the EMS is fully compliant with the national regulations.

‘The NPP has confirmed the compliance of its EMS with the environment protection regulations’, Elena Ilyina, the auditor at DCS – RUS, an independent body for management systems certification, said. ‘Following my visit to the Beloyarsk NPP, I came up with a new term ‘a human-minded nuclear power plant’. In fact, every person I met at the station were positive and open-minded, and they are all true professionals’.

The audit lead also noted the proactivity of the Beloyarsk NPP’s management team, the professional level of the staff, top-notch equipment of the training department, the impeccable work of the team at the psychophysiological maintenance lab, and improvements with regard to the plant’s presentation products: getting rid of plastic bags and using balloons at public events.

‘All departments taking part in the inspection audit (RC-3, TC-3, UTP, ORB, OOOS, LPFO, UIOS) have showcased their achievements’, Nina Usatenko, ad interim head of environment protection department at the Beloyarsk NPP, stated. ‘Every person working at the NPP contributes to the safety, in particular the environment protection’.

During the 2-days’ visit, the EMS documentation was reviewed and the changes in the management system were noted; the continuous system implementation confirmations were reviewed and the results of the improvements recommended during the previous audit were discussed. ‘We have decided to renew the certificate for another year’, Elena Ilyina concluded.
