The system of ecologic management of Smolensk NPP complies with the National Standard
The results of independent auditors’ inspection of Smolensk NPP ecologic management system proved its compliance with the GOST R ISO 14001-2007 National Standard requirements. The inspection was held by DEKUES SSU (management systems’ certification) LLC, an independent body on management systems’ certification.
In the course of the week, the expert group headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Alexey Dibrov, examined the documents of the ecologic management system of the enterprise departments and sections and conducted interviews with the personnel.
As a result, the inspection audit has shown that the ecologic management system, including the control over observance of nature protection requirements at Smolensk NPP meets the International Standard and the existing Russian nature protection legislation.
The committee’s conclusions allow stating that Smolensk NPP guarantees ecologic safety.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
