The delegation from Temelin NPP (Czech Republic) has visited Rostov NPP

On May 17-20, the delegation from Temelin NPP (Czech Republic) represented by Director Milos Stepanovsky and Curator on Knowledge Management Radek Shool visited Rostov NPP within the framework of the agreement on the nuclear plants’ twinning arrangement.

Czech atomists attended the plant and its construction site, took part in a number of meetings devoted to the problems of the existing power units operation and construction of new ones.

One of the visit days, Czech atomists met with journalists. Sharing his impressions, Milos Stepanovsky noted: “I have visited many different plants in Germany, France and England, and I must say that Rostov nuclear plant looks very decent on their background. Judging all the parameters: production, safety, personnel qualification and responsibility - it is a very good plant. Besides, Rostov NPP is a very good-looking plant”.

The agreement of Rostov and Temelin NPPs twinning arrangement was signed in 2004. According to this document, Czech and Russian atomists annually attend their plants-twins. In the course of the visit they share their work experience, perform cooperate works on the equipment modernization, debugging and testing, and also take part in international scientific and practical conferences and seminars.

The atomists of Rostov and Temelin NPPs are linked with long years of partner relations. The scientific and technical collaboration of the plants-twins leads to the mutual enrichment of positive practices examples, among them in the questions of operation, organization of maintenance, safety culture, equipment modernization and technical documents management.

Temelin NPP is the largest Czech nuclear power plant with the capacity of 2 thousand MW. The plant operates two power units of VVER-1000 reactors. The plant construction was begun with the participation of Russian specialists in 1987. The first power unit was put into operation in 2000, the second one – in May, 2003. The NPP is located 5 km far from Tun city over the Vltava and 24 km far from Ceske Budevitse. The plant is managed by ?EZ Group.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1000 MW. Power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No 2 – in December, 2010.
