On June 1, the Children’s Day, an awarding ceremony of the winners of III regional tour International children creative contest called «We are the Nuclear City’s Children” held by the name of “Balakovo NPP is My Proud” was organized in Balakovo NPP public information centre (PIC).

More than 150 children took part in the contest. There were pupils of all twelve Balakovo schools, lyceum No. 1, gymnasiums Nos. 1 and 2, pupils of “Rainbow” art studio and the studio of Applied Arts “Akvarelka” of “Antares” culture, sports and children creative centre of Balakovo NPP trade union committee. According to the results of regional tours 2010 and 2011, in April the best works had already been sent to Sosnovy Bor city (Leningrad region), where the finalists of the international contest called “We are the Nuclear City’s Children” were traditionally defined. From Balakovo there were Yana Khimich, Yevgeny Gerasimov and Sofia Varghina. They were invited to Leningrad NPP to participate in the awarding ceremony and special cultural and educational program.

Addressing the young winners and their parents, PIC Head Yury Terekhov said: “We are the Nuclear City’s Children” contest gathers children from many countries: Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, England, Bulgaria, Germany and France together and gives us an opportunity to see their unordinary talents. Estimating the works of the contest participants, we see that their interest in the profession of an atomist is great and despite their age they realize that nuclear power is the power of the future”.
