On September 14 Smolensk nuclear scientists celebrated 39 years from the date of its basis in Desnogorsk.

By a tradition the beginning to a celebration was put by a festive procession of the entities and the organizations of Desnogorsk staff, veterans of war and working. Tsentralnaya Street was filled by a column decorated with multi-colored spheres, flowers, flags and banners.

From a tribune of Desnogorsk residents Lyudmila Ivanichenko, the head of Smolensk region department of learning, science and youth affairs, the head on municipality "Desnogorsk city", the chairman of the Desnogorsk city council Vladimir Blochin, the head of Desnogorsk administration Mikhail Hobotov, the director of the Smolensk nuclear station Andrey Petrov, the deputy of the Smolensk regional duma Mikhail Losenko, the archpriest of the temple "All grieving pleasure" Vitaly Sladkov, veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

In the City Day celebration of the residents, awarded with placing on the Honour roll of Desnogorsk on the Walk of Fame, took place as usual. This year among them is the shift supervisor of the radiation safety department of the Smolensk nuclear power plant Alexey Timofeev.

For inhabitants of the satellite town of the Smolensk nuclear power plant during the day of the holiday was prepared the extensive entertainment program including performances of creative collectives, demonstration performances of athletes, master classes, fair and the entertaining and game program for children. The holiday came to the end with colourful fireworks.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". SAES annually issues in a country power supply system on the average about 20 billion kilowatts of hours of the electric power that constitutes about 13% of the energy developed in Rosenergoatom concern, and more than 80%, the Smolensk region made by the power entities.
