The Rostov nuclear power plant: parade of first-year students of VITI NIYaU MEPhI

On the central city square of Volgodonsk parade of first-year students of the Volgodonsk MEPhI technical institute national and research nuclear university took place. More than one thousand first-year students in corporate t-shirts of institute, with flags, lined up in a row on a solemn line devoted to Knowledge Day. On a festive event the mayor of Volgodonsk Victor Firsov wished students excellent knowledge and reminded that graduates of this higher education institution are the city future.

And the director of the Rostov nuclear power plant Andrey Salnikov told: «We need at the  nuclear station turbine specialists, we need electricians, we need builders... it is more difficult to tell whowe don’t need. Therefore, you study well, work in construction crews and in five years, we wait for you to work on the Rostov nuclear power plant’.

Andrey Salnikov also solemnly handed over the symbolical student ID card to the first-year student of VITI NIYaU MEPhI Vyacheslav Ignatkin who has arrived on faculty «Nuclear stations» and gathered at admission examinations the highest ball - 298 of 300 possible.

Further students passed in the organized column along the central city street to institute and started occupations.   

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
