The Rostov NPP: the turbine feed pumps and 70% of the pipes have been installed at the turbine hall of the power block No.4 under construction

70% of the pipes with the total weight of over 1.5 tons have been installed in the turbine hall of the power block No.4 currently under construction. The latter was reported by Alexander Goremykin, the contractor’s (the Volgodonsk installation department) director. He has also confirmed that the heat-exchanging equipment, including the turbine feed pumps designed to transport the second circuit feed waters into the steam generators, have been installed. The turbine is still being installed in the machine hall. The Volgodonsk installation department staff is to start installing oil lines in May.

Most efforts at the reactor unit are focused on the main circulation line welding. According to Oleg Shuliar, the JSC Sezam contracting company director, at the moment his team works on welding four joints of the main circulation line connecting the reactor and the steam generators.

8 out of 28 main circulation line joints have already been welded. 4 teams made of 36 senior-grade wiremen are involved in the project.

The Rostov NPP power block No.4 is planned to be launched in 2017.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
