The Rostov NPP: the turbine at the 4th power block under construction is 60% ready

According to Victor Sivolapov, the director of the Volgodonsk installation department, its specialists the have completed the turbine’s shifting line at the Rostov NPP’s 4th power block and evaluate the turbo generator for be 60% ready. “The turbine’s shifting line has been constructed with the precision of the two decimals of a millimeter. Now, the concrete workers can start with grouting under the rotary table bearing. We also start the low-pressure cylinder check assembly. We can say that at the moment the turbine has been 60% ready”, he noted.

The turbine with the total capacity of 1100 megawatt is being installed at the Rostov NPP’s power block under construction. By May 2017 it has to be fully assembled and installed at the barring, which means that the second circuit equipment will be fully ready for electric power generation.

The Rostov NPP’s 4th power block is to be launched in 2017.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
