The Rostov NPP: the installation staff at the power block No.4 under construction has entered the final straight on the main circulation line welding

16 out of 28 joints of the main circulation line have been welded at the reactor room of the power block under construction, with other 6 joints being in progress.

The main circulation line welding started on February 27, 2016. On April 27, during the daily briefing on the power block No.4 construction, the JSC Sezam personnel responsible for this operation received a very ambitious task: to weld the main circulation line within 105 days.

To attain the goal, the works were to be properly organized and optimized.

Those activities are accompanied by the quality control of all operations: visual, measurable, radiographic, capillary, and ultrasound.

It is important to note that, in 2013, when the Rostov NPP power block No.3 was constructed, it took 143 to complete the main circulation line.

Once these works are finalized, the wiremen can move forward with the next step – the system spill onto an open reactor. This technological operation encompasses post-installation cleaning of the security and normal service systems’ pipelines connected to the reactor.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
