The Rostov NPP: the electric pumps for water supply to the main circulation pump air coolers have been installed at the machine hall of the power block No.4 under construction

The Volgodonsk installation department has completed the NKU-250 electric pumps installation at the machine hall of the power block No.4 under construction. The pumps are designed to transmit water into the main circulation pumps’ engine coolers.

The main circulation pumps (four per one power block) based in the reactor hall fall into the category of the prime mission equipment catering for the first circuit coolant circulation and abstract of heat from the reactor core.

Meanwhile, the steam generators’ operating platforms are being installed at the reactor unit while the main circulation line is being welded. At the moment, 12 out of 28 joints have been completed.

The Rostov NPP construction briefing is scheduled for April 27th, where the participants are to summarize the intermediary construction results and to define the top priority tasks for the short-term perspective.

The Rostov NPP power block No.4 is planned to be launched in 2017.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
