The Rostov NPP: students from Vietnam have gained practical skills in nuclear power plant operation in Volgodonsk

The first group of the Vietnamese fourth-year students of the Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering has completed a two-weeks on-the-job training at the Rostov NPP training department and the AEM-technology plant. Besides, the students have had a number of lectures at the Volgodonsk Engineering Technical Institute.

During the training at the Rostov NPP full-scale simulator, the foreign students have gained practical skills of a nuclear power plant operation.

At the AEM-technology plant, they have received a detailed overview of the steam generator production technology and have seen the major NPP equipment production sections.

At the end of their stay to Volgodonsk, the Vietnamese nuclear power specialists have visited the Rostov NPP Information center where the information management and the public relations experts have told them about the plant’s construction and operational launch history, have shared the results of 2015, and have elaborated on their short-term plans.

The students have demonstrated an active interest in the Rostov NPP Young nuclear experts’ organization, especially in their community activities and production operations.

Two other groups of students are going to visit Volgodonsk in April, with their on-the-job training at the nuclear power enterprises will stick to the same scenario.

Russia and Vietnam have entered into an intergovernmental agreement on the Ninh Thuan-1 NPP construction in southern Vietnam, and the Vietnamese students who will shortly graduate from the leading Russian technical institute are going to put their knowledge to use.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
