The Rostov NPP: power unit ?4 under construction ready for installation of the reactor vessel

There are works in progress on pre-assembly of pipeline units for emergency cooling of the primary circuit and on installation of walls in extract and refueling pool at the power unit ?4 of the Rostov NPP.

"We plan to test the polar crane at the end of July, its main lift is 370 tons. After the tests we can begin installation of all heavy equipment including the reactor compartment and the reactor vessel,"  - the Chief engineer of the contractor JSC "Sesame" Victor Agryzkov said about future prospects.

Recall, that the reactor vessel weighing 320 tons was descended from the conveyor of the "Izhora Plants" (St. Petersburg) on May 29, it was overwhelmed on the river tug "Bright" and sent to Volgodonsk. The reactor vessel was delivered directly to the construction site of the power unit ?4 of the Rostov NPP on June 21.

"This type of reactors VVER-1000 (V-320), - said the Deputy director for capital construction of the Rostov NPP Alexey Fedotov - have been installed on all operating units of the Rostov NPP. And, as practice shows, including the world, they provide a reliable, safe and efficient operation during the entire period of exploitation. The reactor vessel for the power unit ?4 under constuction is now at storage site of the general contractor JSC "NIAEP" - JSC "ACE". The reactor vessel must be at the area of it assembly in September 2015. Installation of the reactor pressure vessel opens up a wide field of operations for the full installation of the equipment of the primary circuit in the reactor compartment".

Launch of the power unit ?4 of the Rostov NPP is scheduled for 2017.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010. The power unit ?3 physical launch was in November 2014, energy launch 0 December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
