The Rostov NPP: power unit ?2 included into the network after performing preventative repair

The power unit ?2 was included into the network after planned preventive repairs (PPR).

The power unit was stopped on May 12 for the repair in accordance with the schedule of repairs at the NPPs in Russia and the application sent to the United Dispatch Administration of the South.

It was a typical major overhaul. Overhaul of reactor plant with full discharge of the fuel from the reactor core, overhauls of steam generators 1 and 3, of the main circulating pump 3 and other equipment were done as part of the repair campaign. Also current repair of the turbine, medium repair of turbine generator units and of circulation aggregates of block pump station-2 were done.

The repair campaign included about 1500 people, 500 of them were the staff of the Rostov nuclear power plant and the rest were from the contractors’ staff.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010. The power unit ?3 physical launch was in November 2014, energy launch was in December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
