The Rostov NPP: over 80% of the pipelines have been assembled at the 4th power block under construction

According to Victor Sivolapov, the chief engineer of the Volgodonsk assembly department, has stated that over 80% of the pipelines with the total weight of round 2.5 thousand tons have been assembled at the turbine hall of the Rostov NPP’s 4th power block under construction.

He said that all the heat-exchange equipment including the turbine feed pumps designed to transfer the second-circuit feed water into the steam generators.

Besides, the turbine generator maintenance site and the turbine itself are now being assembled in the machine hall. The turbine is planned to be staged onto the barring in May 2017.


The heat installation works related to welding the industrial pipelines of the emergency core cooling system are nearing completion.

Four units of the emergency core cooling system have been connected to the reactor using industrial pipelines and are a part of the power block’s safety system.

The power block No. 4 is planned to be launched in 2017.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
