The Rostov NPP: a women employee from Volgodonsk became the world champion in powerlifting

Darya Polyakova, a laboratory technician of the gas-oil group at the water-radiotechnical laboratory of the Rostov NPP chemistry department became the world champion in powerlifting by showing the best results among the competitors under 44 kg in deadlift. The champion coped with the weight of 105 kg.

More than 1,5 thousand athletes from 20 countries of the world, including Russia, Egypt, France, Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Mongolia, Iran, Israel, the Baltic states and the near abroad, came to Kursk to take part in the main powerlifting event of 2016 held from August 10 to 14, 2016 – the World Championship AWPC and the World Champions Cup WPC/WAA.


Moreover, the master of sports Darya Polyakova also takes the second place in bench press (50 kg). 

The management of the Rostov NPP provided assistance in arranging the athlete’s trip to the competition.

The world champion is now ready for further training aimed at reaching the main goal – complying with the standards of «Master of Sport of International grade», and, of course, it’s time to continue working at the favorite chemistry department of the Rostov NPP.

Next world championship in powerlifting is taking place in the USA.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
