The Rostov NPP preparing to receive the reactor vessel for power unit under construction

Power unit ?4 under construction of the Rostov NPP is preparing to receive the reactor vessel. Works in the reactor compartment for concrete reinforcement at + 36.600 mark are being done for that, final testing of the polar crane with its main lift in 370 tons will be done after concreting. This crane will set the reactor vessel. Also installers from the Volgodonsk branch of the JSC "Sesame" are working directly in the reactor mine.

"Installation of pipelines of emergency systems is being conducted, we are also making pre-assembly of support ring of the reactor as well as we are assembling railway lines in the room ?301 related to the reactor mine," - said the chief engineer of the Volgodnsk branch of the JSC "Sesame" Victor Agryzkov about current works.

Recall, that 320 ton reactor vessel for the fourth power unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant, which had been made by "Izhora Plants" in St. Petersburg, started its way by water to Volgodonsk on May 29. And according to information received from Victor Alexandrov, the Deputy Director of the JSC "Infotek-Baltika M", the reactor vessel is being towed by barge on the Volga River at the moment and is located in Cheboksary.

"According to the "road map", the reactor vessel will overcome by water about three and a half thousand kilometers. The reactor vessel should arrive in 20 days of June to a special pier of the JSC "AEM - technology" - ATOMMASH in Volgodonsk.
The "Izhora Plants" manufactured and shipped such equipment also for the third power unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant in 2013.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010. Launch of power unit ?3 was in November 2-14, physical start-up was in December 2014. Power unit ?4 is being constructed.
