The Rosenergoatom: branch "Management of the Leningrad NPP-2 under construction" will be closed

Decision of the Board of Directors of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" dated May 26, 2015, it will cease operations of the "Rosenergoatom" branch "Management of the Leningrad NPP-2 under construction" from 09.01.2015. Its functions will be transferred to branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" "The Leningrad nuclear power plant".

The Board of Directors also approved the new edition of the Regulation on the branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" "The Leningrad nuclear power plant".

Earlier the General Director of the Concern "Rosenergoatom" Evgeny Romanov signed an order to transfer the functions of the branch "Management of Leningrad NPP-2 under construction" to the branch "Leningrad nuclear power plant" on April 7, 2015. The process of functions’ transfer will take 7 months.

Thus, it is planned that a single entity will operate from October in the town of Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region - the Leningrad nuclear power plant, which works for construction, preparation for launch and subsequent operation of the new VVER power units and operation of nuclear reactors RBMK and prepare them for decommissioning.

The decision to transfer the functions allow the "Rosenergoatom" to use more efficiently available resources, to plan costs and to interact with partner companies.

There already has been an experience in transferring functions of the branches of NPPs under construction of to operating nuclear power plants in the Concern "Rosenergoatom" - Beloyarsk and Novovoronezh nuclear power stations.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Sosnovy Bor in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units with electric capacity of 1000 MWt each operate at the nuclear power plant.

The Leningrad NPP-2 construction is part of long-term program of activities of the State Corporation "Rosatom". Customer-developer of the project is the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom".

The general contractor of the project is the company "AEP".

General sub-contractor is the JSC "CONCERN TITAN-2".

General Designer is the JSC "ATOMPROEKT."

The Rostekhnadzor issued a license (? GN-02-101-2277) for the construction of the power unit ?1 of the Leningrad NPP-2 (valid - till 03.31.2018) and a license (? GN-02-101-2276) for the construction of the power unit ?2 of ??? Leningrad NPP-2 (valid - till 07.14.2019) on February 12, 2010.
