At the construction site of the Novovoronezh NPP(Customer "Rosenergoatom Concern", the general designer and general contractor is JSC "AEP", Moscow) cooling pond of the power unit ?6 under construction was successfully tested for density within the test of equipment phase.

Density control system of the storage pool with the 48-hour hydrotest didn't fix water drain from the volume of 1700 cubic meters. Works on the construction of the pool were made ??qualitatively. Its inner surface is a welded construction made of stainless steel sheets.

According to the deputy chief engineer of the Novovoronezh NPP on using of the 4th stage under construction Igor Gusev, these successful testing will proceed to the next stages of alarm security systems washing of the power unit  ?6 and the assembly of the reactor to carry out the procedures for its hot and cold running.

The cooling pond is a building, part of the nuclear installation. It is designed for temporary storage of spent nuclear fuel discharged from the reactor.

After declining of residual heat the spent fuel is removed from storage pools to nuclear industry enterprises engaged in processing and reprocessing of fuel (storage, disposal or reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel).

Since June 2007, the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" as the owner-developer has started the construction of the two power units of  new generation within the Novovoronezh project "NPP-2006". Construction is being proceeded in accordance with the program of activities of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom". It was approved by the RF Government Decree ?705 20 in September 2008. Construction is funded by property contribution and equity of the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern". On the new nuclear power plant new reactor equipment WWER-1200 was applied. New project complies with all local and international safety requirements. Its main distinguishing feature is to improve the security system, which provides a significant advantage on the characteristics of the project-level security. The general contractor for construction of new power units is JSC "AEP" the chief designer of the reactor plant is JSC "OKB Hydraulic".
