The Leningrad nuclear power plant: works on the first power unit are successfully completed

On October 16, 2013 the Director general of JSC «Rosenergoatom» Concern Evgeny Romanov confirmed completion of works on recovery of resource characteristics of the first power unit of the Leningrad nuclear power plant and an exit to a stage of coordination with Rostekhnadzor.

After visit of production rooms of the first power unit the head of «Rosenergoatom concern» held a working meeting with the Leningrad NPP management where aggregate results of the recovery last stage of graphite laying and a current status of preparation for start-up of systems sounded. «Work is carried out enormous, - Evgeny Romanov summarized. – Staff of the station together with contractors made a labor feat because solved unique problems at high level - in fixed terms and for smaller money. The economy constituted about 2 billion rubles».

The head of the Concern designated date of start-up of the first power unit and its connection to a power network - it is approximately on November 7, 2013. «In Rostekhnadzor we obtain the license for an exit to full capacity, - Evgeny Romanov emphasized, - but as the operating organization we treat this question very conservatively therefore at the first stage we will work at the lowered capacity proceeding from the principles of safety&».

Today, the technology has been developed on the first power unit of the reviewer, is applicable, and it can be replicated on other RBMK blocks – and in even more short time. «For the solution of a strategic state task on RBMK resource recovery the staff of the Leningrad nuclear power plant is worthy to be recommended for decorations», - Evgeny Romanov noted.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Pine Pine forest, in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units by electric capacity of 1000 MWt everyone are operating on the nuclear power plant.
