The Leningrad NPP: Rosatom has carried out a special review of the technical client department at the nuclear power plant

The Leningrad NPP has completed a special review for the managers and the specialists involved in the major investment project related to constructing the substitution capabilities of the NPP.

This was the second knowledge assessment carried out among the employees of the capital construction department at the running and the “under construction” power blocks of the Leningrad NPP. All specialists of the budgeting and contractual, production, planning and financing departments, along with the engineering supervision and quality control departments have re-confirmed their high levels of key competencies by answering 95 tricky questions related to their professional areas.

“The practice of reviewing the competencies of the company’s employees working on the major construction projects (Rosatom boasts around 70 of those) was introduced in 2015. During the first pilot project, we have accredited around 1600 employees representing 63 organizations. Their results were different; however, all in all, the team has demonstrated a great level of basic knowledge. This is an effective instrument that motivates the employees and the managers to gain and practice new skills, improves the return on investments into the construction and the professional level of the employees”, Andrey Golovanov, the head of the Rosatom OCKS industrial construction complex development department, stated.

The tests were related to the main features of the technical customers; however, this year the tasks were much more difficult compared to last year. Still, this complication has just inspired the Leningrad NPP specialists to get better prepared for the review.

“100% of the capital construction department personnel took part in the review, which is 158 people. And our team has again demonstrated amazingly great results, with the level of marks varying from 85 to 95 points. The leaders have reached 100 points. Those results are very impressive, especially taking into account the fact that we are nearing a very important phase of facilitating the new power block’s physical launch”, Sergey Prokhor, the capital construction management chief engineer of the Leningrad NPP under construction, commented on the results of the review commission’s work.

The Leningrad NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based in the city of Sosnovy Bor, 40 km to the west from Saint Petersburg at the Gulf of Finland shore. The Leningrad NPP is the first Russian nuclear power plant having RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium-graphite channel-type thermal neutron reactors). The NPP exploits 4 power blocks with the electric capacity of 1000 megawatt each. Also, pursuant to the NPP-2006 project, 1,2 VVER-1200 power blocks included into The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM long-term plan are being constructed. Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the owner and developer of the project. Holding TITAN-2 is the primary contractor. ATOMPROEKT is the general designer.
