The Leningrad NPP promotes environmental education of students

The Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (branch of the «Rosenergoatom Concern», Leningrad region) supports environmental education of St. Petersburg and Sosnovoborsky students. In particular, on September 23, the plant specially sent an expert with the necessary equipment to carry out an environmental action "Kovash River Festival" in the "Year of the Finland Gulf" guide.

Rainy weather corrected place of the action a little bit, instead of the originally planned coast, MAOU DOD "Information Technologies Center" (Sosnovy Bor) building was used.

All seven teams of students from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region enthusiastically moved among 10 stations, where they had to to answer specific questions on the ecology and demonstrate their knowledge and resourcefulness.

After a conversation about the birds near water, soil science and protection of children on the shores of the station "Dosimetry", the deputy head of ORB on manual of the Leningrad NPP 2nd stage Vadim Bondar, who acquainted the students with the basics of radiation safety and the primary skill with a dosimeter, expected cognitive game participants.

For half an hour the students passed the ten special stations and best of them received prizes from the information technology center management and the Leningrad NPP specialist.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Pine Pine forest, in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units by electric capacity of 1000 MWt everyone are operating on the nuclear power plant.
