The Kursk NPP: in 2015 the nuclear city has received over 26 million rubles as a part of the cooperation agreement between Rosatom and the region administration

In 2015, over 26 million rubles were transferred to the Kurchatov City municipal unit’s budget as a part of the cooperation agreement between Rosatom and the Kursk region administration in order to settle the issues the city faces.

Most of the funds – 20 million rubles - were invested in the reconditioning of public roads. 3 million rubles were implemented for the second-priority construction activities at the Palace of Culture, which were put on hold many years ago. The building designed to house a library and a cinema now has a chance to be fully completed.

Over one million rubles were allocated for the training programs catering for the collective training of the disabled and people with no disabilities. The gymnasium No.1 has received over 700 thousand rubles to re-floor the hall, change the doors in the gym, and to re-equip the classrooms. Other 574 thousand rubles were used to purchase special equipment for the training programs.

Also, thanks for the funds allocated in 2015, the nursery No.10 was fully renovated with the total expenses being over 2 million rubles.

The Kurchatov city administration expects to invest more in the Palace of Culture construction and road maintenance. The social, economic and infrastructure development plan also stipulated for full remodeling of schools and nurseries, the outdoor lighting, road construction in the 7th and the 10th districts, erection of a railroad crossing and much more.
The cooperation agreement between the Rosatom State Corporation and the Kursk region administration also pre-supposes tax liabilities to the budget based on the Rosatom’s investment programs and projects in the region. The administration invests these funds into social, economic, innovative, and infrastructure development in Kurchatov where the Kursk NPP is located.

The Kursk NPP, as part of the "Rosenergoatom Concern", is included into the electricity division of the State Corporation "Rosatom". The station is located 40 km south-west of the city Kursk on the left bank of Seym. The NPP has four operating units with RBMK RBMK-1000 reactors with total capacity of 4 million KW of electricity. Power units were connected to the unified energy system of the country in 1976, 1979, 1983 and 1985. All existing power units had technical modernization in 1994-2009. The Kursk NPP is the largest power generating source in the Central Russian Chernozem.
