The Kursk NPP: by 2027, the investments into the power blocks’ safe operation management will reach 32.5 billion rubles

During the period of 2016-2027, the investments into the Kursk NPP power blocks’ safe operation management will be 32.5 billion rubles. In 2006-2015, the amount of investments into the safe operation management and the corporate development facilities’ construction exceeded the number of 39.77 billion rubles. In 2015, catering for safe and reliable operations of the power blocks cost 4625.19 million rubles. Another 1167.1 million rubles were spent on the radioactive waste and spent fuel handling facilities’ construction.

These figures were presented during the XVI interregional universal retail and wholesale Korensk Fair-2016, where the Kursk NPP representing the Rosenergoatom Concern took part among other power generation and manufacturing companies of the Kursk region. The NPP and other participants (the number of which exceeded 900) have delivered their own exhibitions during the fair.

It was noted that the company focuses on extending the Kursk NPP power blocks’ life cycle extension, with 923 million rubles invested into the matter in 2015. Additionally, over 300 million rubles are spent on better working conditions and personnel rehabilitation.

The guests of the fair have also learned about the company’s social responsibility. For example, in 2015, the Kursk NPP has paid 3.913 billion rubles of taxes into all levels of budgets and over 979 million rubles into the non-budgetary funds. Besides, the NPP is regularly involved in charity work, allocating 10-12 million rubles for it annually.

Some information blocks were dedicated to innovations, import substitution, modernization, including the so-called “post-Fukushima” measures, radiation and ecological security.

Obviously, there were some discussions related to the Kursk NPP-2 under construction. In June, the Rostechnadzor has issued a license for the 1st power block construction, along with the Rosatom’s approval. At the moment, the construction activities are in progress. The substitution plant construction and its operation will cater for new employment and tax incomes into the budgets at all levels.

At the end of the Korensk Fair-2016, the Kursk NPP was awarded a medal “For active investments”. Alexander Mikhailov, the governor of the region, presented it to the Kursk NPP director, Viacheslav Fedyukin.

“At the Korensk Fair, we tell everyone interested about the new directions in the power industry, regardless of whether our guests are amateurs or professionals”, Viacheslav Fedyukin noted. “The nuclear power industry is one of the few in Russia that carry out complex exports. The Rosatom’s portfolio on constructing nuclear power plants abroad accounts for around 100 billion dollars. We do have lots of things to be proud of”.

In 2016, apart from the regional companies and the representatives of other Russian regions, guests from 25 countries participated in the Korensk Fair, with embassies and trade agencies from Belarus, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, India, Namibia, and Bulgaria being among them.
