The Kalinin NPP: around 91 million rubles were invested in environment protection measures in 2015

The latter was reported by Andrey Danilkin, the head of the environment protection department at the Kalinin NPP, during the meeting with his Belarusian colleagues. He has also noted the following: “In 2015, the expenses related to the environment protection were as high as 90,989 million rubles, which enabled us to fully complete the measures aimed at conserving the nature”.

The representatives of the State Environmental Expertise Department of the Belarusian Ministry for natural resources and environment protection and the Belarusian NPP have visited the Kalinin NPP on April 28th.

During the visit, the participants have familiarized themselves with the Kalinin NPP performance indicators, the way the environmental policy is adhered to at the station, the way the environment control and monitoring are organized, and the operations of the external radioactive contamination monitoring laboratory. Additionally, they have reviewed the plant’s public report on environmental security. Andrey Danilkin, the head of the environment protection department, has elaborated on the unique production facilities operating at the station, such as industrial waste remote graveyards, industrial waste landfills, and others. He has also claimed that the Kalinin NPP has been among the best Russian NPPs in terms of environment protection for many years.

Specialists representing various departments of the NPP have addressed the questions from their Belarusian colleagues on how the environment protection and nature management are taken care of, the way production documentation is delivered, the responsibilities’ allocation between the team members, and the special equipment and top-notch methods used at the plant.

The Belarusian guests were especially keen to learn more about some of the best practices of the Kalinin NPP, specifically, the production environment control and monitoring system, the principles of departments’ cooperation on water usage, supporting the efficient environment management system and much more. All of those are expected to be implemented at the Belarusian NPP, too.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
