The Baltic NPP: preparatory works are being continued

The preparatory works at the construction of the Baltic NPP (Neman city of Kaliningrad region) are performed according to the schedule. This conclusion was made by the participants of the regular headquarter meeting, where all the current organization questions for the last period were considered.

Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Affiliated Company Directorate of Baltic Nuclear Plant under Construction Yevgeny Vlasenko, Baltic NPP OJSC Deputy Director Anatoly Buryanov, Northern Construction Department OJSC General Director Dmitry Goryansky and representatives of SPbAEP OJSC, contracting and subcontracting organizations took part in the meeting.

The participants attended all the objects under construction and then summarized the results of all the construction participants’ activity in the headquarters building. General contractor representative, Chief Engineer of Northern Construction Department OJSC Konstantin Maslikov reported that at that time works were carried out at 41 objects. The site leveling operation had been performed by 85%, the works in the southeast collecting ditch would be finished at the end of June and those at northeast were half done. The construction site enclosure was installed along 2,800 meters from the target 3,700 meters and would have been accomplished by July, 1.

According to him, the foundation under the second mixing plant had been made. All the works at concrete solution equipment would be finished in August. At cable manufacture they had initiated installation of sandwich panels. The customer’s administrative and household complex would have been put in commission by September, 1, and the contractor’s one – by August, 1.

Construction of internal and outward roads, engineering networks and structures, electric power supply grids is being continued. All the representatives of subcontracting organizations noted in their reports that the payments to them were made on time, and the set schedules were complied with.

“We should not slow down the work rates, because very soon we are to start the works of the main period and the volumes will be significantly increased”, Yevgeny Vlasenko underlined.

At present 820 people are engaged in the Baltic NPP construction, 573 of them are Kaliningrad region citizens. 

The Baltic NPP was established on February 25, 2010 in Neman district of Kaliningrad region. It is being constructed according to NPP-2006 project and will consist of two power units the total capacity of 2300 MW. The first power unit will be commissioned in 2016, the second one in 2018. The plant is constructed for the sake of electric power supply to Kaliningrad region and abroad as well. It is the first time in the native nuclear branch when private investors were proposed to participate in the project, among them foreign ones. In BtNPP project they may receive a share up to 49%. At present the negotiations with the prospective investors are in progress.
