Smolensk NPP: young atomists have conducted “Intellectual Marathon” among the plant workers

On May 13, 2011, “Intellectual Marathon”, organized by the enterprise atomists, took place in Smolensk NPP rehabilitation and recreation centre. The event with the participation of over 60 people was held in two stages: selection tour and final games.

In the selection tour, 8 teams presented by representatives of the nuclear plant departments and subdivisions and veteran and youth organizations, took part in the game “What? Where? When?”. All the teams were playing simultaneously. Totally, 25 questions had been asked. The questions to them demanded knowledge in various spheres of science, culture, sports as well as logics and quick-wittiness. 

After summarizing of the selective tour results, four teams went to the finals: the youth team “Druz has had a rest”, the team of SNPP public information centre “We have got the contact”, Smolensk NPP picked teams “Three Thousandth” and “F 1”.

In the finals the teams were to play “Brain-Ring” according to the round system. Each meeting simultaneously involved two teams who were to answer five questions in run.

According to the games results, the youth team “Druz has had a rest” took the first prize of “Intellectual Marathon”, Smolensk NPP picked team “Three Thousandth” took the second prize, and the third one was taken by the team called “F1”.

“The organization of intellectual games at Smolensk NPP has become a good tradition. Today the people ready to show their wittiness, knowledge and ability of playing in a team gathered there. This again proves that Smolensk atomists live not only by the production but also can organize their leisure time, show their intellectual and creative abilities”, Jury Chairman, Deputy Chairman of Smolensk NPP Trade Union Organization Alexander Kulachenko noted.

The Championship winners were awarded diplomas, cups and medals.

In 2008 young atomists initiated the organization of intellectual championships at Smolensk NPP. The first “Brain Ring” tournament among the employees was held at that time.

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
