Smolensk NPP: power unit No. 2 has been has been put out of operation for scheduled maintenance

On June 2, 2011, Smolensk NPP unit No. 2 was put out of operation for the scheduled routine repair for 21 days.

At present Smolensk NPP operates the first power unit of 1,005 MW nominal capacity. No deviations in the equipment operation have been detected. Power unit No. 3 is under scheduled overhaul repair. All the works are being performed according to the dispatch schedule.

For 2 days of June electric power generation was equal to 40 mln kWh, and since the year beginning it has amounted to 6.823 bln kWh.

The radiation background at Smolensk NPP industrial site and the adjacent territory is not changed and corresponds to the natural environmental values.

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
