Smolensk NPP: Power unit ? is scheduled for regular maintenance and repair since June 2, 2011
Power unit ? 2 of the Smolensk NPP according to the year repair plan is scheduled for regular maintenance and repair since June 2, 2011 for 21 days.
There is a scheduled power loss in the second power unit before the repair. At present Smolensk NPP operates the first and the second power units, their capacity amounts to 1470 MW. There are no remarks concerning operation of the equipment.
Power unit No. 3 is under scheduled major repair, all the works are under schedule.
In May, Smolensk NPP generated 1.417 bln kWh of electric power. Since the year beginning, the total production was equal to 6 bln 783 mln kWh of electric power.
The radiation background in the area of the nuclear power plant location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and corresponds to the natural background values.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
