Smolensk NPP: Awarding of Winners of Creative Crafts Contest
On May 28, 2012 in the House of Children’s Art in Desnogorsk, there passed an awarding of the winners of the contest of applied material crafts “Smolensk NPP is Next to Us”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Smolensk NPP power unit startup, and the 20th anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern.
The competition, which took place from February to May, was attended by more than 70 children. After the event, in the assembly hall there was decorated an exhibition of works made of beads, leather, plastic arts of bakery dough, and lace-making. There were exposed the drawings, pictures, soft toys, embroidered silk ribbons, and a lot more the children’s imagination was rich for. The basic theme of all the creative projects was the jubilee of the local economic mainstay, the region’s environment and the beauty of the native land’s nature.
I degree diploma and a gift from Smolensk NPP was awarded to Polina Monakova for the work made of beads “SNPP – 30 Years”.
II degree diploma went to Roman Schetinin for the drawing “Happy Anniversary”, III degree diploma – to Yulia Aleksankina for the embroidered silk ribbons “The Lawn”.
Recognition gifts were awarded to Roman Velishayev for the poem “The 30th Anniversary of SNPP”, and Marina Glushkova for the work made of lace.
“The theme of the exhibition is close and clear to our children,” told at the closing of the exposition Director of the House of Children’s Art, Zlata Brilliantova. “They live in this city and love it. Their parents work at the nuclear power plant. The plant’s feast – is a feast for the whole city, in which the young growing generation will have to live and work on.”
Today in Desnogorsk in various clubs, sports and creative unions there are involved up to 2000 school students. Spiritual and moral development, which they get there, contributes to the education of youth in the spirit of patriotism, love for their small Motherland and strengthening the ties between generations.”
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Annually SNPP provides the country power system at an average of about 20 billion kWh of electrical power, which makes about 13% of energy produced by Rosenergoatom Concern and more than 80% produced by the power enterprises of the Smolensk Region.
