Smolensk NPP Restarts Power Unit No.1

On April 15, 2012 the power unit No.1 of Smolensk NPP was restarted after the scheduled maintenance of 90 days period had been finished. Actually, the power unit operates at 490 MW capacity, and its capacity is being increased.

At the present time Smolensk NPP operates three power units. Their total capacity amounts to 2545 MW. There are no comments on the equipment operation.

Since the beginning of April, the power output has made 740 mln kWh of electricity, which is 28 mln kWh over the planned task. Generally, since the beginning of the year Smolensk NPP power units have generated 5.592 bln kWh of electric power.

 The radiation background at the industrial site of Smolensk nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory did not change and matches the level of natural background values.
 
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Annually SNPP provides the country power system at an average of about 20 billion kWh of electrical power, which makes about 13% of energy produced by Rosenergoatom Concern and more than 80% produced by the power enterprises of the Smolensk Region.
