Smolensk NPP Hosts Chief Engineers’ Meeting of Nuclear Power Plants of Concern Rosenergoatom

From April 10 to 13, 2012 Smolensk NPP hosted a regular joint retreat of Chief Engineers of the Concern Rosenergoatom NPPs.

The meeting also was attended by the managers and representatives of the Concern departments, Inspectorate-General of State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, branch scientific-research institutes and contractors.

The meeting summed up the production activity of the Russian NPPs for the 2011-2012-autumn-winter period, addressed matters related to safety, reliability and efficiency of nuclear power plants‘operation, discussed proposals on development of integrated programs of equipment updating.  

Resuming the operation of nuclear power plants, Alexander Shutikov, a Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC – NPP Production and Operation Director said: “The nuclear power plants of Russia have been showing the positive dynamic in safe and stable operation of power units and output plan performance. Decreasing the duration of maintenance campaigns and their competent scheduling improves the performance of basic facilities and production efficiency increase upon the whole.”

One of the key topics of the meeting was to discuss the issues of raising the efficiency in management of human resources.
Smolensk NPP built a system-based work for managing the human factor, and developed special error-preventing tools that are consistently implemented in daily activities of the staff.

“The experience of Smolensk NPP should be taken as a basis for implementing HF tools at the nuclear power plants of Russia,” said the Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC – NPP Production and Operation Director, Alexander Shutikov.

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Annually SNPP provides the country power system at an average of about 20 billion kWh of electrical power, which makes about 13% of energy produced by Rosenergoatom Concern and more than 80% produced by the power enterprises of the Smolensk Region.
