Smolensk NPP Finishes Days of Awareness

On June 14-15, 2012 the management of Smolensk NPP finished the final meetings with the staff within the third stage of Awareness Days, started at the enterprise on May 15. For the month 2500 people took part in it.



This time the meetings were devoted to the analysis of the results of 2011 and priorities of Rosatom State Corporation in 2012, as well as to the answers for the questions received by the management of the industry after the previous day of awareness. The video message of Rosatom Head, Sergey Kiriyenko, was devoted to the achievements of the industry, existing problems and specific ways of their solution.

Acting Director, Alexander Vasilyev, and Deputy Director of the plant, Anatoliy Terletskiy, marked the contribution of Smolensk NPP in common achievements of the last year, and characterized the key figures of the efficient enterprise for 2012. As an absolute success, they marked the plan on excessive electric energy generation, high-quality maintenance performance, commissioning of the first start-up facilities of RAW Reprocessing Complex, acknowledgement of Smolensk NPP as the best nuclear power plant of Rosenergoatom Concern, and successful development of Rosatom Production System. “The outstanding event was the successful IAEA OSART mission carrying out,” stressed Alexander Vasilyev.

Completing of all the activities related to justification of the possibility of Unit 1 operation beyond the design lifetime, implementation of the third self-concept of safety culture and arrangement to upgrading of Unit 2 was mentioned by the management as the future tasks of Smolensk NPP. Particular emphasis was made on the final decision about the construction of displacement power.

Also within their competence, the managers of the enterprise answered the questions received from employees, which concerned the social services, staff training and rotation, records system, wages and quality of medical services in Desnogorsk.

The new channel of communications was initiated by Rosatom at the end of the year with the purpose to inform employees on the processes that took place in the industry and to establish a high-quality dialogue with the staff. According to Acting Director, Alexander Vasilyev, “the new means of communication allows receiving first-hand information, which is necessary to know in order to understand the challenges facing the industry.”

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Annually SNPP provides the country power system at an average of about 20 billion kWh of electrical power, which makes about 13% of energy produced by Rosenergoatom Concern and more than 80% produced by the power enterprises of the Smolensk Region.
