The V Interregional Military-Patriotic Rally “Fatherland”, which took place from 11th to 20th June on the territory of the training point “Skalodrom”, has completed its work in Desnogorsk.



70 children from military-patriotic formations of Desnogorsk, Smolensk, Roslavl, Yershichi and Chavusy (Belarus) participated in it.

The purpose of the event was spiritual and patriotic, and physical education of the youth, including, the so-called “difficult” children, promotion of healthy lifestyle, and study of the history of the native land.

Under the guidance of the experienced tutors and commanding officers of search elements, the youngsters learned the basics of the military applied art: learned to make a camp fire, set tents, got geographical bearings, techniques throwing darts and knives, skills of gun handling, learned the techniques of self-defense and HTH combat.

According to commander of the rally, Nikolay Kashkarov - an operator of the reactor shop of Smolensk NPP, in fact, the young people were offered a program of the preliminary military training. “We wanted to make the children understand what missions our state will assign to them, when they will go to serve in the army,” he stressed, “and to make them learn more history about their Motherland, love it and be able to defend it.”

All the acquired skills the teenagers showed in the final competition – “zone of courage”, which identified the best of the best.

According to Alexander Sholokhov, a head of the team “Zastava” (The Picket) from the Yershicheskiy district, similar events were useful for the youth in terms of adaptation development, because it often was difficult for children and adolescents to adapt in new conditions, for example, when moving or changing the environment.

 “For these few days the children have learned to think and make decisions independently, have developed their labour, sports and communication skills. It is very important in the modern conditions of life. In addition, they acquired a lot of new friends,” he stressed.
