Rostov Nuclear Power Plant Completes Scheduled Maintenance of Unit 2

Rostov NPP has completed the thorough scheduled outage of Power Unit 2, which began this year on May 19.

On June 18 at 02.30 h. the power unit was included to the Unified Energy System of Russia.
The repair was carried out with the introduction of measures on upgrading aimed at safety improving of the unit and approved by the Concern Rosenergoatom. The remedial maintenance procedure and equipment upgrading was performed in full.

High professionalism, operational cooperation of contracting organizations with the service personnel, sharp daily planning and implementation of Rosatom Production System made possible to optimize the terms while ensuring the high quality of the maintenance.

Scheduled outages of systems and equipment of power units are an essential component of production and economic activities of Rosenergoatom Concern aimed at ensuring reliable and efficient operation of power units in overhaul life.

The radiation background in the area of Rostov NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power units’ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 – in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 have been being under construction since 2009.
