Rostov NPP: power unit No. 1 has been connected to the grid after the scheduled repair

On May 22 at 04:04 p.m. Rostov NPP power unit No. 1 was connected to the grid after the scheduled prevention maintenance. The total duration of SPV-2011 (scheduled prevention maintenance) was equal to 42.5 days.

We remind that on April 10 power unit No. 1 of Rostov NPP had been shutdown for major scheduled prevention repair according to the “Schedule for Repair of Russian Nuclear Power Units in 2011”, approved by the management of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC.

Average time period of major repairs at Russian NPPs is equal to 50-55 days. The nuclear plants’ employees’ high professionalism, effective interaction with the repair personnel of contracting organizations, clear daily planning and the implementation of Rosatom production system allowed the NPP personnel getting new labor achievements.

Within the framework of SPV-2011 scheduled class of works were performed in the reactor and turbine compartments of the nuclear plant, complete unloading of the nuclear fuel with its partial change, the preventive works and inspection of the power unit equipment and systems, works on modernization were carried out.

The SPV repairing campaign was performed with the works of high quality. All the requirements of safety rules and standards were met.

On June 5, power unit No. 2 will be shutdown for midlife repair of 42. 5 days long according to the “Schedule for Repair of Russian Nuclear Power Units”.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1000 MW. Power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No 2 – in December, 2010. Power units Nos. 3 and 4 have been constructed since 2009.
