Rostov NPP: a photo exhibition devoted to the nuclear plant has been opened in the regional museum of Zhukovsky Cossack village

On June 23, 2011 a presentation of mobile photo exhibition “Rostov NPP: from the first stone to the second power unit”, devoted to the 10th anniversary of the nuclear plant first power unit start-up, was held in the regional museum of Zhukovsky Cossack village.

Archival photo pictures telling the story of the nuclear plant construction and also photo works depicting the most important events of the 10-year operation period of the first power unit and the start-up of the second one are presented at the exhibition. The entire history of Rostov nuclear plant construction and the revival of the nuclear power branch in Rostov-On-Don are reflected in its photo chronicles.

Representatives of the district government, Cossacks, the village inhabitants and the nuclear plant workers were present at the opening ceremony. The employees of Rostov public information centre in a detailed way told the people gathered about the stages of the construction and commissioning of the nuclear plant and answered multiple questions of the countrymen.

“Our village is located to the nuclear plant closer than other ones and we are pleased by the fact that we have received an opportunity of learning more about the enterprise”, Head of the Village Vladimir Bosikov noted. “Accurate and positive information will allow getting rid of panic among the population and the communication with the NPP representatives will help us find ways of collaboration”.

The inhabitants of Rostov-On-Don, Volgodonsk and Tsimlyansk have already got acquainted with the photo exhibition “Rostov NPP: from the first stone to the second power unit”. It will be available in Zhukovsky Cossack village till the end of summer.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1,000 MW. The construction of power units Nos. 3 and 4 has been carried out since 2009.
