Rostov NPP: Volgodonsk tennis players won most of the medals at the tennis tournament among Russian nuclear scientists

Rostov NPP sportsmen won most of the medals at the open tournament among employees of enterprises of the nuclear power engineering and industry, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the first RoNPP power unit startup. According to the results of the three-day competition, Volgodonsk nuclear scientists won 9 medals. 

48 tennis players who represented ten nuclear power plants of Russia  took part in the competition held on July 1-3. The winners were determined among men and women in single and pair championships. 

According to the results of the three-day struggle Natalya Byvsheva (Rostov NPP) was determined the winner in the women’s single championship. The second and the third places were occupied by sportswomen from Kalinin NPP Lyudmila Guzhilova and Natalya Beloshapko. 

Alexander Kudryavtsev (Kalinin NPP), last year winner, was the best in the men’s single championship in the age group under 35. Viktor Shpak (Rostov NPP) won the silver. The honorary third place was occupied by Volgodonsk nuclear scientist Andrey Byvshy.

Yury Noskov (Rostov NPP) occupied the first place in the age group of 35-50. Vyacheslav Talanov (Balakovo NPP) was the second. The bronze medal was awarded to Sergey Myasnyankin (Kursk NPP).

The top places among sportsmen over 50 were distributed in the following way: representative of Leningrad nuclear power plant Nikolay Durnev was the winner, the second place was occupied by Alexander Tereshkov (Rostov NPP), and Levon Babayan (Rostov NPP) was the last among the top three.

Tennis players of Rostov nuclear power plant Yevgeniya Maslova and Natalya Byvsheva won the victory in the women’s pair championship. The second best pair was Marina Nazarchik (Rostov NPP) and Irina Boldovskaya (Kalinin NPP). The honorary third place was occupied by Lyudmila Guzhilova and Natalya Beloshapko who represented Kalinin nuclear power plant.

RoNPP sportsmen Andrey Byvshev and Viktor Shpak were the winners of the men’s pair championship. Alexander Kudryavtsev (Kalinin NPP) Alexander Kolupayev (Kola NPP) were awarded the silver medals. The bronze medals were awarded to Kusrk nuclear scientists – Sergey Myasnyankin and Nikolay Pustilnikov.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear power plants operates two power units  with VVER-1000-type pressurized water reactors of installed capacity equal to 1,000 MW. Power unit No.1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power units No. 2 -  in December of 2010.
