On March 15, 2012 the final of the remote municipal contest “Competent Consumer of the XXI century” among school children dedicated to the World Consumer Right Protection Day has passed at the Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP.

The contest was organized by the “Raduga” Centre of the additional education of children and the “Rostok” kid NGO. The contest is assisted by the Volgodonsk Education Department, the Rostov NPP, the Volgodonsk Consumer Association and the South Russia Consumer Societies Federation. This contest is held in Volgodonsk for the 12th time and the Public Information Centre of the nuclear power plant for the 3rd time becomes its co-organizer and founder of special awards.

This year the contest was attended by 12 school teams. Seven of them came through to the final. They fought for the title of the most competent consumers. The contest started with teams greetings, where the participants presented not only themselves but also reflected the importance of the consumer movement. The next stage of the contest became the “Advertising”, in which each of the team introduced its own product. The object of promoting to the commercial network became an ice-cream of the local dairy. Also the participants answered questions concerning knowledge of Consumer Right Protection Law and environmental labels and symbols for the clothing care. The most spectacular became a contest called “Ecofashion”. The audience and the jury saw costumes made of catchpenny fabric by children. And fans of the teams competed in the contest on composing environmental slogan on the same topic.
As a result a team from school No.13 has won the 1st prize, the 2nd prize was won by school children from school No.15, and the 3rd became a team from school No.9. Summing up the results Elena Kuchina, specialist of the Volgodonsk Consumer Market Department noted that the modern world has a huge amount of goods and information on them to make the right choice and increase our own law knowledge constantly.

She wished to all of the participants of the contest and their fans to become active promoters of the consumer movement and strive for making their life more quality and safe.

Rostov NPP is a branch of the “Rosenergoatom Concern” OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1000 MW. The power unit No.1 was commissioned in 2001 and the power unit No.2 – in December 2010. The power units No.3 and 4 are under construction.
