Rostov NPP: Volgodonsk Holds Tournament on Hand-to-hand Combat

On May 5 and 6, 2012 at the sports and health centre of Rostov NPP, there was held the VI open All-Russian tournament on HTH combat, dedicated to the Victory Day and the 20th anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern.

It was attended by more than 150 athletes from 23 regions of Russia, as well as by six teams of the Russian nuclear power plants, such as Leningrad, Balakovo, Novovoronezh, Beloyarsk, Kursk and Rostov.

Opening the event, the Chief Engineer of Rostov NPP Alexey Zhukov noted that all the winnings of the tournament, which was traditionally held on the eve of May 9, were dedicated to the victorious soldiers – veterans of the Great patriotic War. He stressed: “Rosenergoatom Concern and Rostov Nuclear power plant for many years have been sponsoring the HTH Combat Federation. This kind of sport is for strong and courageous people; it tempers the nature and fosters a will to win.”

The combats took place during two days. The strongest fighters of the regions fought on the carpet. The fights were entertaining and hard-edged.

Among the teams of the regions, the first place was taken by fighters of the Rostov region, the 2nd – by fighters of Kabardino-Balkaria, the 3rd – of the Volgograd region. Among the teams of nuclear power plants, the 1st prize went to Rostov NPP, the 2nd – to Kursk NPP, and the 3rd prize was won by the Beloyarsk NPP team.

The teams of the Rostov region and Rostov NPP are traditionally favorites of the tournament. For the last several years their representatives do not leave the winner’s stand. And this time they have confirmed their title of the strongest.

The Head of the regional HTH Combat Federation and employee of Rostov NPP Andrey Parygin considers that these wins are natural, because Rostov and Volgodonsk fight schools always have been considered as ones of the strongest.
The HTH Combat Championship of 2013 will take place exactly in Volgodonsk.
