Rostov NPP: TV Journalists Viewed Process of Scheduled Outage

For the first time Rostov and Volgodonsk television journalists viewed the process of the scheduled outage (PPR) of Rostov NPP Unit 1. Reporters of television companies GTRK Don-TR (Rostov-on-Don), TNT-Volgodonsk and ANK (Volgodonsk) visited the very heart of the unit – reactor compartment.

Having passed all the procedures of outfit, including individual dosimeters, the journalists already did not differ from the nuclear power plant employees. During an hour TV reporters recorded on the video a process of scheduled operations on the main equipment of the pile assembly as well as diagnosis and repair of safety systems at Rostov NPP unit. After visiting an area of maintenance works and having passed all the barriers of radiation safety in the “purity” of clothing and equipment, the reporters saw the plant’s safety afforded by nuclear engineers even working on open equipment of the reactor compartment. And individual dosimeters’ readings have confirmed the radiation safety during the works.

Departing from Rostov NPP, Television Journalist of Don-TR, Nikolay Sokolov, wrote a message in Twitter: “Exclusive! I have been at the very heart of Rostov NPP, close to the open reactor, details later!”

The scheduled maintenance at Unit 1 is held according to the program approved by Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The work program is scheduled to be performed for forty days, after which the first unit of Rostov NPP again will be included into the grid.
