Rostov NPP: Plant Director Congratulates Volgodonsk Citizen Yulia Yefimova – Olympic Bronze Medalist

On August 27, 2012 in the conference hall of the Administration of Volgodonsk, there took place a ceremony of honoring of the Russian swimmer, Yulia Yefimova. The pupil of Volgodonsk sport added another bronze medal to the Russian team’s collection at XXX Olympic Games in London in the 200 m breast stroke swimming race.



Representatives of the Administration and Volgodonsk City Council, management of Rostov NPP, enterprises of the city and representatives of mass media have come to congratulate the female athlete with the Olympic medal.

Mayor of the city, Viktor Firsov, thanked Yulia for her athletic success, which has become the pride of Volgodonsk and Russia. On behalf of the plant’s staff, Director of Rostov nuclear power plant addressed Yulia Yefimova with words of gratitude: “You have a great mission – your shiny sport and healthy style of life will serve as a worthy example for the younger generation, and if, looking at you, at least, some people will begin playing sports, then this will be a good result, not only public, but also sports,” said Andrey Salnikov. 



After the solemn ceremony, at the briefing, Mayor, Viktor Firsov, and Director of Rostov nuclear power plant, Andrey Salnikov, were the first to ask the champion questions.


Answering the journalists’ questions about the next Olympics, Yulia Yefimova told that since childhood she had been dreaming to take the Olympic gold, and that she was intended to achieve the goal.


The common wish of all those present were the words of Deputy Chairman of Volgodonsk City Council, Lyudmila Tkachenko, who wished Yulia Yefimova good health, new sporting achievements and a gold medal at the next Olympic Games in 2016.



Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Power Units 3 and 4 are nowadays under construction.
