Rostov NPP: Nuclear Engineers Provide Humanitarian Assistance to Residents of Kuban

Rostov NPP staff has collected and arranged humanitarian aid for the shipment to flood-affected areas of the Krasnodar Territory.

The collection of needed items and products has taken place for four days in the Information Centre of the nuclear power plant. The nuclear engineers laid the tragedy in the Kuban to their hearts and actively involved themselves to the assistance campaign.

There were collected about 200 kg of cereals and pasta, about 100 kg of sugar, 70 liters of sunflower oil, 120 cans, about 80 packs of baby food, more than 200 pieces of soap, 500 injectors, 160 packs of bandages, diapies, baby linen, bedclothing, dry meals, sweets and biscuits, hygiene accommodation, pillows and blankets. As a result, the nuclear engineers fully loaded the truck “Gazelle” with humanitarian aid.

“We have a big and friendly staff, sensitive and responsible people, which live according to the principle “there is no such a thing as someone else’s misfortune”. Rostov NPP employees, who were the witnesses of the tragedy when in Volgodonsk there was blasted a house, and hundreds of families suffered, know what means to stay homeless, and understand how any aid is important in such cases. Our colleagues transferred the things and food personally from themselves, their own families and whole subdivisions,” says Head of the Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP, Vadim Koynov.

In the near future the things and products, assembled by the nuclear engineers, will be sent to the affected areas of the Kuban, along with the cargo of humanitarian aid from residents of Volgodonsk.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 – in December 2010. Since 2009 Units 3 and 4 have been under construction. The general contractor is JSC NIAEP.
